Job Description: Position Summary This position is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of computer hardware, software, peripherals and data communication devices. In addition, the incumbent will provide moderately complex technical support using troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to ensure timely resolution to end user problems and requests. Dimensions Scope is company-wide. Organizational Relationship The incumbent receives general guidance from the End User Support Manager or End User Support Supervisor. The exact reporting relationship may depend on the specific operating or service group in which the incumbent is assigned. The incumbent may receive instructions from other company Network and Server Analysts, or other appropriate personnel in the Company. Principal Accountabilities The following accountabilities are to be carried out in a manner consistent with the spirit and philosophy outlined in The Andersons' Statement of Principles: 1. Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair computer hardware and software, peripherals, and data communication devices. This includes installation of network adapters and support of hardware connections. 2. Provide first level support and perform preliminary investigation of technical, operational and hardware problems. If unable to resolve the problem, work with higher level technicians or escalate to ensure that end user problems are resolved in a timely and accurate manner. Because of the nature of the position, the incumbent may be required to work outside of normal business hours to ensure efficient operation of computer hardware, software and data communications. 3. Answer calls and e-mail requests directed to the End User Support IT Helpdesk in a responsive and professional manner, analyzing the problem, taking proper corrective action, documenting actions and notifying user of the resolution and/or status of their request. 4. Perform basic network administration tasks, including maintenance of user accounts, monitoring of disk space on network, and routine maintenance and troubleshooting of network operations and backups. 5. Set up and deploy computer equipment for employee use, ensuring proper installation of auxiliary devices, cables, operating systems, and appropriate software. 6. Maintain and update documentation relating to support tasks and resolution, computer equipment and inventory, and user self-service. 7. Coordinate the shipment and arrival of computer equipment, and return of equipment to vendors or end users. 8. Make recommendations to existing network and IS department policies and procedures to improve support levels for users and increase operating efficiency to benefit the company. Job Qualifications Education: Associate's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline Experience: 3-5 years of desktop computer support experience Certifications/Licenses: Additional Skills: The incumbent must possess the human relations skills necessary to work professionally and tactfully with company employees and outside vendors. The incumbent must demonstrate a high degree of personal initiative, independence, and strong interpersonal communication skills. Working Conditions: Work is typically performed in an office environment. The incumbent may be asked to stand/sit for extended periods of time, and lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds. Some travel may be required. .
