Job Summary SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:The CarePATH Credentialed Trainer (CT) serves multiple roles related to the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) application. The core role is to deliver end-user training and go-live support for a particular Epic application module related to an ambulatory or inpatient go-live. The position serves as the core CarePATH support and provides ongoing support and training to the user base beyond the go-live event. The CT is essential for the continued success of the user population.The position is essential to the successful creation and execution of an end user training program which translates into an effective electronic health record system resulting in meaningful day to day end user activities. Proper training of end users serves to bridge the decisions made on workflow redesign and system build, as well as, other decisions around the system build. The CT is responsible for mastering both an Epic application and the specific workflows of that application. The CT is an integral member of a project team and will participate in workflow design and system build in order to gain in-depth knowledge of practice and system workflows to achieve optimal system functionality and ultimately quality patient care. The CT is responsible for building, testing, and maintaining the training environment, as well as developing and maintaining training materials. The CT leads training of any new physician and staff member and provides regular ongoing training opportunities. The CT fields work tickets and addresses application problems.QUALIFICATIONS* Ideally prefer experience with Epic and credentialed in Epic. However will consider people who have taught clinical systems or have a teaching background* Strong organizational skills (responsible for coordinating the training effort for theapplication)* Ability to write well (responsible for maintaining training documentation)* Skill and experience in adult education, experience with learning management systems a plus* Strong 'people skills' (responsible for motivating end users and other trainers)* Systems thinker with strong organizational skills who can pull all the pieces together and deliver on time* Team player* Excellent oral, written and one-on-one communication skills, able to communicateeffectively with all levels within the organization. Will be in-front and teach classes toclinical end users* Other duties as assigned by managerEDUCATION:Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, computer science, or related field required May be waived in ce1tain circumstances.EXPERIENCE: Experience working with Epic application or another similar EHR is requiredKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:* Strong belief in the goals and objectives Mercy Health has in installing the Epic system (responsible for inspiring peers, subordinates, and constituents)* Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, computer science, or related field required. May be waived in certain circumstances.* Minimum two years experience in the role of an educator in industry and/or instructualsettings preferred* Comfortable working in a healthcare environment at the point of care* Ability to become credentialed in one or more Epic applications* Ability to travel (out of town) 15% of the time* Ability to travel ( day travel) 80% of time to hospital locations or physician practice* Ability to teach in classroom, group, and one-on-one settings* Strong interpersonal and customer service skills PRINCIPAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:It is expected that all of the principal duties and responsibilities identified below will be performed in a manner that reflects the values of Mercy Health, which are: Compassion, Excellence, Human Dignity, Justice, Sacredness of Life and Service.The core role of the CT is to become credentialed in all Epic module, deliver training to end users, and provide go-live support for a defined period of time. Credentialing is the process of learning a given application module and how to teach it. CT works with Principal Trainers (PT) from the CarePATH project team for a period of four to six weeks. Successful completion of credentialing requires passing written and practical exams.Once credentialed, CTs work with the PTs and others on the CarePATH team to prepare curriculum for the Epic training environment. This includes pilot training to hone teaching skills and confirm the educational materials. CTs then deliver training to end-users over a period of 4-6 weeks; the exact duration depends on the number of students, application, and venue (eg ambulatory, IP). The culmination of the core CT role is being a member of the go-live support team. This requires rounding and providing on site assistance to end users for a period of time (1-3 weeks) for extended shifts (12-14 hours). Works weekends/nights as needed.Ideally CTs possess a background in the application area that they will teach and support ( eg clinical, central business office, front desk, etc.). They must be comfortable leading classes and possess strong interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills and a technical aptitude are necessary. The ability to operate in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment is essential.
