Job Description Job Title: Tax Accountant I Reports To: NA Tax Manager Location: Northwood Shared Service Department: Tax Employees Supervised: None Primary Duties: Compliance Assist with preparation of federal, state and local income and franchise tax returns for all North American legal entities. This requires completion of detailed tax workpapers and review of the current year forms for any changes that may be required to the workpapers. The preparation of the workpapers includes calculations of current year book-tax differences, reviewed and adjusted detail trial balances and other various schedules used in the completion of each legal entityA cents € (TM) s tax returns. Assist with preparation of federal, state and local estimated income/franchise tax payments and extension payments for all legal entities as required by the individual federal, state and local taxing authorities. Preparation of various state and local annual reports as assigned for North American legal entities. Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual governmental surveys as assigned for North American legal entities. Preparation of other miscellaneous filings, reports, etc. as assigned. Preparation of sales/use tax returns as assigned on monthly, quarterly or annual basis. Assist with the preparation of personal property tax returns as assigned. This includes fixed asset analysis for jurisdiction specific taxability, querying accounts in the general ledger, and completion of the tax returns per the state/local requirements. Complete other duties as assigned. This may include: unclaimed property filings and payments, gross receipt returns and payments, and property/sales tax payments. Miscellaneous Prepare and record journal entries as assigned. Reconciliation of Direct and Indirect tax accounts as assigned. Assist with quarterly and annual tax reporting requirements to Group Tax. This will also include various reporting such as forecasts and year end special analysis items. Maintain Tax compliance calendar and ensure all tasks are completed each month. This will entail coordination with NA Shared Service Tax Team and European Shared Service Tax Team. Assist with all federal, state and local income and franchise tax audits. This requires the initial gathering and organization of information requested by the auditor as determined by the Tax Manager. This generally involves coordination with accounting to obtain the detail required by the auditor. Assist with personal property tax audits. This will entail compiling miscellaneous information requested by the auditor and the coordination/compilation of data from various locations as necessary, eg capital asset purchases and disposals, facility closing information, etc. Assist with sales/use tax audits. Duties include: assist with data gathering, data analytics in Excel, invoice research, product taxability research and resale certificate reconciliation. Qualifications Required: BS/BBA in Accounting or Finance 2 to 4 years accounting/tax experience Strong PC skills including good working knowledge of MS office software, ie Excel and Word and similar software Familiarity with various tax software products such as One Source Property Tax, CORPTax, Intelliforms or similar products Ability to manage time, organize workload and meet deadlines by prioritizing High level of attention to detail Good research skills Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills Other Requirements 10-15% travel required. Will require travel to various field locations within North America US Passport required for international travel within North America Qualifications Desired: CPA and/or Masters in Taxation Prior accounting/tax experience in a manufacturing environment. Prior experience on government audits. Experience with SAP or similar ERP Experience with tax fixed asset accounting
