Location Toledo Ohio United States The Corporate Financial Reporting Leader provides leadership to the Corporate Financial Reporting team which is a highly effective and motivated team that includes External Reporting and Corporate Accounting and delivers the following results to the organization Driving the external reporting process for Ks and Qs Executing an effective financial close cycle for our Corporate functions and monitoring internal controls Research implementation and education for new accounting and SEC pronouncements Internal consulting through researching and guiding stakeholders on technical accounting issues Continuously improving external reporting and accounting processes to gain efficiency and effectiveness Supporting senior management investor relations treasury legal corporate strategy financial planning compensation benefits corporate function leaders and external auditors Accounting for complex topics such as derivatives capital market transactions equity including stock compensation foreign currency pensions and other employee related benefits Assist in the preparation and review of the Companys proxy statements bond prospectuses and investor materials Preparation and review of journal entries account reconciliations and consolidated financial statements The position reports to Assistant Controller Span of control Leads team of leaders and analysts Responsibilities Live the Safety stand adhere to the safety responsibilities Metrics Implement a personal safety action plan and review with leader Adhere to the Owens Corning safety policies at all times Lead the quarterly financial reporting process for SEC filings Coordinates timing and communication of all tasks and events for SEC filings to OC personnel Leads discussion on significant or complex accounting items with Disclosure Committee Global Accounting NLT and external auditors Maintains technical accounting repository for documentation on key items Works with external auditors to communicate significant accounting issues and to coordinate review and sign off on SEC document at quarter ends Oversees completion and review of consolidated and condensed consolidating financial statements footnote disclosures XBRL and final document for filing and obtains the appropriate signatures Reviews documentation for accounting standard implementations to ensure that our adoption transition and disclosure is compliant Monitors the regulatory environment for new and changing disclosure requirements Drafts Managements Discussion Analysis and aligns messaging with investor relations business segment finance leaders legal and treasury Reviews SEC filings and investor materials to ensure that non GAAP financial measures are properly presented explained and reconciled in the disclosures Partners with the Internal Controls Leader to analyze the financial statement materiality of control deficiencies Leverages capabilities of internal technology and the Workiva external reporting software to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of financial statement tie out and analytics Metrics Financial reporting and disclosure control deficiencies remediated First pass yield of KQ drafts Number of accounting standards assessed and implemented Qualitative feedback from stakeholders Lead controllership activities for the Corporate function and execute an effective financial closing cycle Develops strong working relationships with corporate strategy financial planning centers of excellence and corporate function leaders Proactively assists corporate strategy financial planning and corporate functions to complete the monthly closing cycle and resolves closing issues timely with the corporate accounting team Consults with corporate function leaders on significant technical accounting matters Provides recommendations and alternative views of the accounting treatment and accounting related issues Ensures that account reconciliations are prepared in accordance with OC policy and on a timely basis Reviews global Corporate and Consolidated balance sheets and drives thoughtful discussion in quarterly meetings Oversees team member activities for complex technical accounting areas including derivatives debt foreign currency stock compensation pension employee related benefits and non income taxes Drives root cause analysis through the continuous learning opportunity CLO process Metrics Qualitative feedback from stakeholders Timeliness of closing processes journal entry reviews and account reconciliations Reduction in the number of recurring issues and or concerns Financial closing process control deficiencies remediated Lead and develop talent Designs the organization to create complete jobs with strong accountability high visibility and development opportunities Creates an environment where talent is developed through effective performance management and talent evaluation Invests in the growth and development of all team members by counseling them on written development plans and internal networking strategies Effectively builds a diverse team with competent people using the appropriate mix of internal promotions and external recruitment to satisfy near term performance long term succession needs and to ensure the organization has the necessary outstanding talent Creates succession plans for the team by being involved in the development plans for identified successors both within the team and broadly throughout the organization Manages an effective training budget to sustain and improve team capabilities Metrics Continuous improvement of Leader survey ratings Talent additions through external recruiting Number of turnovers of high performance and high growth talent Percentage of effective performance appraisals and development plans Further develop working relationships with other departments Teams with various OC departments to achieve common goals Serves as resource for the Financial Standards Working Team on accounting policy matters Consults with business segment accounting groups on significant technical accounting matters Provides recommendations and alternative views of the accounting treatment and accounting related issues Acts as a resource to the non financial leaders of the business providing education and training on the key principles of finance Metrics Number of financial standards and accounting policies reviewed Number of technical accounting consults Presenter survey ratings at Finance for Non Finance Manager seminars Job Requirements Experience Ten years of combined experience preferably in various accounting and finance roles with multinational manufacturing companies and Big public accounting firms Bachelors degree in accounting MBA preferred CPA required An experienced manager and leader of teams Knowledge and Abilities Broad financial and business acumen including superb understanding of US GAAP concepts and global accounting processes Strong technical accounting research skills and related experiences blueprinting accounting treatment for complex transactions Exposure to SEC filing standards regulations and procedures Personal Characteristics High integrity and confidence Strong communication skills both interpersonal and written Demonstrated executive presence and business partnering mindset Strong analytical skills Strong collaboration influencing and consensus building skills Ability to stay organized meet strict deadlines and adapt to a changing
